London
London Deanery encompasses the majority of the area within the M25, on both sides of the River Thames, and some Greater London suburbs.
London’s population has grown significantly in recent years, both from births exceeding deaths, and by immigration, both from within the UK and without – with almost one third of Londoners from non-white ethnic groups. As a result, London offers an ethnic and cultural diversity unrivalled almost anywhere else in the world.
The Deanery
At London Deanery, we aim to provide the highest quality of training and delivery of College curricula whilst exceeding national standards. Trainers and trainees will feel part of a valued training environment, promote excellence, and encourage academic training, research and innovation. We work closely with the RCP and NHS London to achieve these aims.
Training at ST3 level (and above) is available in all medical specialties, including the five RCP-hosted specialties described herein this website. Our training programmes involve rotations through several hospitals, and cover all aspects of the curricula; in addition to clinical training, we encourage trainees to develop skills in research, teaching or management.
Podcasts
To assist trainees considering applying to specialties within the London Deanery, we have produced a number of podcasts with our Heads of School and trainees describing the training opportunities in London. These can be viewed at this link: http://www.londondeanery.ac.uk/var/recruitment/specialty-recruitment/specialty-school-podcasts
Link with KSS Deanery
Within the process of co-ordinated recruitment to ST3 posts in the specialties of Cardiology, Endocrinology & Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Geriatric Medicine and Renal, the posts advertised within KSS and London will be recruited to under one single UoA (Unit of Application), which will be referred to as 'London-KSS'.These posts are over-arching programmes between the two deaneries, and if appointed to a programme therein you may be required to rotate between both London and KSS Deanery to maximise your training opportunities.
London will act as the lead deanery in recruitment to these posts.
