Round 1 - closed
The first round of recruitment to substantive ST3 posts has now closed, along with the periods of 'clearing' and LAT recruitment contained within it.
Following this, further vacant posts will be made available for recruitment in Round 2 (see below).
Round 2: Appointments to substantive ST3 posts
Where Units of Application (UoAs) have confirmed ST3 vacancies within the five RCP-hosted specialties, these vacancies will be advertised and recruited to in the second round (R2) of national ST3 recruitment. Generic adverts will be posted nationally by the RCP-SRO, with UoAs placing more specific adverts. All will fulfil the current requirements to test the Resident Labour Market.
The Round 2 process will operate largely on the same basis as that in Round 1.
ST3 post start dates
Due to the differing start dates of potentially all posts, candidates are advised that appointment start dates can be variable. Candidates are advised to contact each UoA for specific information on commencement dates of individual posts within specialties. Where possible, UoAs will provide indicative details of available programmes, including start dates, on their websites.
What can I do to prepare?
Find out as much as possible about the specialty/ies to which you wish to apply. Ask trainees and consultants within the specialty; visit www.rcplondon.ac.uk and www.jrcptb.org.uk, as well as individual Deanery websites. For more information on training in a specialty, speak to your postgraduate department or deanery careers advisor.
Consider to which deaneries you wish to apply; some introductory information is included in the UoAs/Deaneries section of our website, as well as links to deanery websites; examine the essential and desirable criteria in the relevant person specification for the specialty; read the Applicants’ Guide, provided by the RCP SRO and available for download from this website.
For more information, please see our Applicants’ Guide (Downloads page).
