Eligibility Folder

Candidates will need to take a number of documents demonstrating their eligibility to take up an ST3 post - ie documents which demonstrate they meet the essential criteria laid out in the relevant specialty's person specification. Such documents are summarised below.

In each case, it is necessary to include the original version of the document where possible, along with two photocopies of each document which the deanery will retain:

1. Confirmation email

Each deanery will send candidates an email to confirm they have booked an interview slot.  Candidates should print this out, to confirm their ID numbers, and also include two further photocopies/print-outs of this in the folder.

2. Passport photographs

Candidates should include two standard, 'passport' photographs, to be retained by the deanery

3. Personal ID documents

It is necessary for candidates to provide either two forms of photographic identification (eg passport, photocard driving licence, national ID card, etc.) and one document showing proof of address (eg recent utility bill, bank/building society statement), or ONE form of photo ID and TWO proof of address documents.

Again, candidates should provide two photocopies of each document used as personal ID.

4. Evidence of eligibility to take up UK employment

UK/EEA applicants should provide their passport, birth certificate, and/or any naturalisation papers.

Non-UK/EEA applicants should provide their passport containing evidence of their current visa status and dates, as well as any other appropriate paperwork.

Candidates are requested to also bring two photocopies of any documents used here. Please note, when photocopying passports, candidates need only copy the relevant pages of their passport; and where they wish to also use it as a photo ID document, it is only necessary to use two photocopies in total, not two for ID and two for UK eligibility.

5. Original, current GMC certificate OR original current letter from the GMC confirming that you are eligible for GMC registration without restrictions

Please bring two photocopies of each document for the deanery to retain.

6. Original Medical Degree certificate and any other qualifications on your application form (translated if necessary)

Please bring two photocopies of each document for the deanery to retain.

7. Proof of language skills (if applicable)

Where candidates have taken their undergraduate training in English, it is not necessary to provide evidence here.

Otherwise, evidence of IELTS scores (taken in the last two years) or signed testimony to a candidate's English skills from their recent/current supervisor will be required.  Again, please take two photocopies of any documents used here.

8. Evidence of achievement of Core competency

Please see the Eligibility page of this website for more information on the documentation required here.

Please bring your original documents (signed & stamped where appropriate) and two photocopies for the deanery to retain.

Other documents

It may be the case that certain deaneries would like candidates to bring documentation additional to that described above. If this is the case, the deanery will inform candidates of this in advance of their interview.

Please also see the information on this website on the Evidence Folder.
